Nature reserve the ‘Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen’

Breathtaking views

Do you like to walk? I walk a lot in our beautiful dunes, towards Noordwijk and unfortunately not so much in our ‘Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen’. The reason for this is that this is a protected dune area where dogs are not allowed. And since our four-legged friends also like to move, I often look for a different piece of dune.

But... when I ever walk in the Waterleidingduinen, I am always amazed at what a beautiful “backyard” I have. This dune area is designed for the extraction of drinking water for the city of Amsterdam and stretches between Zandvoort and the Langevelderslag, “our” beach and belongs to the municipality of Noordwijk. A fun fact is that every year fifty million cubic meters of drinking water flows through this area.

Our wellness lodge in the Netherlands is located on the border of of the most southern part of the ‘Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen’. Within 5 minutes you walk to the entrance and when you arrive here you can walk to the sea in one hour and to Zandvoort in two hours.

Blog waterleidingduinen 3 400x300You can find many different walks on the Waternet website. Of course you can also go on spec, in your holiday home you will find a walking map of the ‘Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen’.

Along the way you will spot a lot of deer, sometimes a fox and if you are a bird watcher, then you will certainly enjoy yourself.
Advice! Go into the dunes at sunrise and imagine yourself alone in the world.

And... to give these beautiful dunes a financial boost, buy a ticket via the Waternet website . The dunes are grateful for your contribution.

Have fun walking!
